Last year, the Kia Telluride shook the world when it became the World Car of The Year.
Will history repeat itself? We may be biased, but we think so!
This year, the jurors for the World Car of The Year added the Kia K5 and Sorento to their Top 10 nominees for this award. Both vehicles are also sold in other markets outside of the U.S.A., including its own home market of the Republic of Korea and around the world.
The World Car of The Year Awards is now in its 17th year. The idea of this award is to reflect the reality of the global automotive marketplace. As the global automotive marketplace is rapidly changing, these awards recognize excellence and innovation through its nominees and award winners. These awards are determined through an international jury of 93 acclaimed automotive journalists from 28 countries around the world.
The K5 and Sorento truly fit in what these jurors are looking for. The K5 sedan is innovative beyond just its exterior and interior design. It offers a driving experience not found in many of today’s mid-size family sedans. The reward is an engaging experience powered by a series of turbocharged engines and a wide range of trims that fit every personality of the owner.
The Sorento takes the excellence of the Telluride and presents a three-row SUV offering capability along with bold design. It offers up a turbocharged hybrid driveline – a first in its class. Plus, the Sorento adds more off-road capability along with proven advanced safety tech in a well-executed package.
The World Car of The Year Awards will be announced on April 20.
