What is the total range available for the 2019 Kia Niro?
The Kia Niro isn’t the only hybrid vehicle in the automaker’s lineup, but it might be its most fuel-efficient platform. Gas prices are always one of the top concerns for new vehicle buyers. When we have people in the Kia of Mankato showroom who are interested in cutting their monthly fuel costs, they are quick to ask, ‘What is the total range available for the 2019 Kia Niro?’ As is often the case with almost any automotive question, there isn’t really a straight answer. The total range of the Kia hybrid crossover SUV will depend on which trim grade a customer chooses to take home. Some of our product experts did a little research to help answer this important question. Let’s take a look at what they found.

Buyers looking to get the most out of a tank of gas can find the 2019 Niro in five trims, FE, LX, EX, S Touring and Touring. All five of them use the same basic powertrain – a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The secret to the vehicle’s incredible overall range and outstanding fuel economy is the battery-powered electric motor that is attached to the engine. When the two systems are working together, drivers will be able to use 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.
Entry-level FE trims can record up to 52 miles per gallon in the city and 49 miles per gallon on the highway with a total range of 595 miles. The LX and EX models will post an estimated 51 miles per gallon in the city and 46 miles per gallon on the highway. These versions will be able to travel a total of 583 miles.
Finally, the top-end S Touring and Touring models have a fuel economy score of 46 miles per gallon in the city and 40 miles per gallon on the highway. Owners of the highest trim levels can drive for about 512 miles without a fuel stop.
