What does the Kia R.E.A.D. do?

Regardless of any technological developments that the automaker brings to market, the most important factor in driving safety is the focus of the person behind the wheel. The problem lies with the fact that humans are not perfect and can be distracted by any number of things, including themselves. Kia R.E.A.D. stands for Real-time Emotion Adaptive Driving. It is a part of the manufacturer’s effort toward building autonomous vehicles. The new Kia R.E.A.D. system is the world’s first technology that leverages artificial intelligence to recognize biometric cues that could lead to potentially dangerous distractions.

The thrust of Kia R.E.A.D. is designed to recognize if a driver is tired, angry or sad and can automatically make environmental changes creating an experience that could help them focus on the road. Additionally, Kia is touting advances in its V-Touch system. Working alongside Kia R.E.A.D., V-Touch employs a three-dimensional camera that will capture the motion of a user’s eyes and fingertips. This will allow them to more easily and safely interact with other systems including the heater or air conditioner.

If you don’t want to wait for these features to go into production, you can learn more about the current inventory available at Kia of Mankato today by making an appointment with one of our product experts.
