What’s new for the 2020 Kia Niro?
In the very short amount of time the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show has been running, Kia has already dominated the headlines by introducing a new crossover SUV and being awarded its first SUV of the Year award. But what about the rest of the lineup? For instance, what’s new for the 2020 Kia Niro? While the automaker was occupying center stage, they took the opportunity to announce a few key changes to its subcompact hybrid crossover SUV platform. Since the Niro was only introduced a few years ago, there haven’t been any ostentatious changes made, but enough upgrades have been completed to keep buyers interested. Let’s take a look at what’s coming down the pike.
“It’s difficult to improve on a winning formula,” Michael Cole, president, KMA, said in a press release. “But we’re always striving to improve every product we sell and the enhanced 2020 Niro provides new owners the latest and greatest while retaining the value, utility and performance of the original Niro.”
New Exterior Elements
One of the most noticeable changes that have been made to the 2020 Kia Niro is the inclusion of new projector-style headlights and fog lamps. The grille is comprised of a new diamond pattern that is flanked by chevron-shaped LED daytime running lights. Finally, the LED combination taillights have been revised for the 2020 version of the Kia Niro.
Kia designers have reimagined in the interior of the 2020 Niro. The center gauge cluster consists of a restyled 7-inch instrument cluster with improved graphics for monitoring various systems. The smartphone-compatible infotainment will be controlled by an 8-inch touchscreen display, though a 10.25-inch screen is also available. Buyers choosing the larger touchscreen-equipped models will also have a premium stereo system to use.
In terms of safety, the automaker has supplemented its Kia Drive Wise Advanced Driver Assistance Systems by adding Lane Following/Lane Keeping Assist and High Beam Assist.
