Telluride Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Award

The 2024 Kia Telluride continues to wow both journalists and buyers alike, as it has racked up award after award from the likes of Car and Driver, Cars.com, and now the IIHS as a Top Safety Pick+ for buyers looking for a safe sport utility vehicle that will protect them and their family. 

What Is The IIHS?

Founded in 1959, The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) was created by three different insurance companies. Over the years it has evolved to conducting and studying car crashes, even revolutionizing the testing that new cars endure to see how good they are in the event of an accident.

Trim Levels, Engine, & Towing

With the new 2024 model year, buyers can choose between ten different trim levels for the Kia Telluride, including LX, S, EX, EX X-Line, SX, SX X-Line, SX X-Pro, SXP, SXP X-Line, and SXP X-Pro. Every model is equipped with a 3.8-liter V6 that produces 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Telluride can use 87 octane fuel or higher. While front-wheel drive is standard, all models can be optioned with all-wheel drive. When properly equipped, the Telluride can also tow up to 5,000 lbs in all trim levels except the SXP X-Pro, which is able to tow 5,500 lbs.

Interior Volume

All occupants will find that the Telluride has loads of space. With a total interior volume of 178.1 cu.ft., it is one of the largest vehicles in its class. Behind the third row, you will have 21 cu.ft.; if you fold the third row, you will have 46 cu.ft. behind the second row of seats. With the second row folded, you will increase that volume to 87 cu.ft. behind the first row.

For 2023 and 2024, it is a Top Safety Pick+ winner.
